The pain program has had such a positive impact on the quality of my life. I go out for walks every day now, whereas before, I would only leave the house 2-3 times a month. It is reassuring to know that I will finally get a good night's sleep each night. At first, I was apprehensive about the idea, but now I cannot express the difference it has made for me.

This time last year, I had to have spinal injections of cortisone to get through winter. This year, I have not needed injections as I have been using alternative therapy since November 2023. The pain is now liveable as opposed to painkillers to provide relief. Previously, I was prescribed prescription pain relief, which was dictating how I moved. Now I am back playing golf.
I have been using alternative therapies for approximately four months and am absolutely impressed with the results. They have had a huge impact on my pain relief, allowing me to enjoy life again. My quality of sleep has improved immensely. I no longer have annoying dreams and feel very refreshed in the mornings. Do I need any referrals to begin treatment?
No referrals are necessary! We handle the entire process from the start.
What if my condition isn't recognised by the DVA?
If you suffer from chronic pain or injury but don’t have it listed as a DVA-approved condition, we can assist with getting your condition assessed. Once approved, we can assist you with managing your pain.
How much does it cost to participate in this program?
Our program is fully funded for all eligible veterans (gold cardholders and white cards with accepted chronic pain conditions). From start to finish, our program has no out-of-pocket cost to all Veterans.
Do I need to continue seeing the doctor if the DVA approves funding for my treatment?
As part of our pain management program, you will have check-ins from our complete clinical team, including monthly calls with your doctor, nurse check-ins, and calls with our social worker team. At Apex, we want to provide a comprehensive and holistic management program to all veterans. As such, these check-ins are vital in providing you with the best care possible.
Will the DVA cover the costs of my treatment?
Yes, the DVA may fund alternative therapy and pain treatment for various approved conditions, including chronic pain.
